Hong Kong Names Interested Bidders for 1800Mhz Auction

Following the declaration last month that Hong Kong is to auction off some 1800Mhz spectrum next month, the regulator, OFTA has named three companies who have expressed an interest.

The three companies are:

• China Mobile Hong Kong Company
• Hong Kong Telecommunications (HKT)
• SmarTone Mobile Communications.

The three have not yet been passed as Qualified Bidders yet - that still awaits a confirmation.

The frequency bands to be assigned through this auction exercise will be restricted for use in base stations located outside country parks and specific remote areas.
