China to Pass 1 Billion Mobile Phone Users by 2013
China is expected to have over one billion mobile phone users by 2013, according to Mats Olsson, president of the Greater China area for Ericsson. Speaking to the Taiwan based Digitimes publication, he noted that the 3G subscriber base will double each year for the next few years.
Quoting data released by China's government agencies and carriers, the number of mobile subscriptions in China grew by 93.9 million a year, or a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 20%, during the 2003-2008 period, Olsson added.
