Singapore's MobileOne Names Replacement CEO
Singapore's MobileOne (M1) has announced that its Chief Financial Officer, Ms Karen Kooi Lee Wah is to take over the position of CEO being vacated by Neil Montefiore who unexpectedly announced his resignation in January.
Ms Kooi has been acting CEO since Mr Montefiore resigned, and a replacement CFO will be announced later.
Ms Kooi joined M1 as CFO in August 1995 and was a key member of the senior management team responsible for the planning, development and launch of M1's commercial operations.
Mr Teo Soon Hoe, Chairman of M1, said, "Karen has very strong leadership credentials and financial experience, along with significant expertise in the telecommunications industry. With her characteristic energy and passion, she played a key role in the growth and success of M1. She has been an outstanding CFO for the Company, and was intimately involved in several strategic decisions for the Company. With her capabilities, drive and proven track record and the strong support of her management team and staff, the Board is confident that she will be able to lead M1 to the next phase of growth. The Directors and I welcome her to the Board and look forward to working with her to further strengthen and entrench M1's position as a strong and significant player in the telco business."
Ms Kooi is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (UK) and holds a MBA in Investment and Finance (Distinction) from Hull University, UK. Prior to joining M1, she held various senior financial positions with large public listed companies including Singapore Press Holdings and City Developments. Ms Kooi is currently a Director of M1 Net Ltd, M1 Shop Pte Ltd, Kliq Pte Ltd and Wireless Intellect Labs Pte Ltd, all entities within the M1 Group.
