T-Mobile to Move Customer Care Jobs to The Philippines
At least 500 jobs working in T-Mobile's UK call centers face being cut after the firm decided to outsource the work to call centers in The Philippines. The jobs are concentrated in two call centers in Scotland, operated by Telecom Service Centres (TSC), along with a third office in Yorkshire.
A spokesman for TSC said "while we start the formal process of informing our Falkirk staff of possible redundancies, we can assure all our employees that we are working very hard to attract new business to bring to the site and keep as many as possible in employment."
Some 300 staff staff at Falkirk, 118 staff at Greenock and 100 jobs Yorkshire are understood to be at risk from the decision by T-Mobile.
In a statement, T-Mobile said: "This decision will result in a gradual transfer of services from the current provider TSC."
In a statement, T-Mobile said that its "general customer services would be provided from a contact centre in Manila, to be known as T-Mobile Dela Rosa, by the end of August."
