ZTE Wins Indian GSM Network Contract
China's ZTE has won a GSM network roll out contract from India's Loop Telecom (formerly BPL Mobile) for an unspecified number of circles. Last year Telecom Loop received licences to start GSM operations in 21 telecom circles in the country. It has received spectrum for 20 circles.
"This is an extremely exciting opportunity for us and we are delighted to have been entrusted with the Loop Telecom business given the strength of the competition in the market," said Dr. D K Ghosh, CMD, ZTE Telecom India Pvt. Ltd. He added, "ZTE has made rapid strides in 2008 with our unique strengths of lower TCO (total cost of ownership), technical & creative capability, innovative R&D and unmatched superior financing, we have become most competitive. All these winning qualities we have offered to Loop Telecom. We intend to be not only their vendor but their trusted partner in their telecom ventures."
No financial details about the contract were provided.
