Syrian Network Orders Network Optimisation Software
Network optimisation vendor, Optimi says has been selected by MTN Syria to provide a software solution for automated network optimization. As part of this agreement, Optimi will supply its xParameters solution for automated optimization of key radio resource management parameters in multi-vendor networks, in order to improve the performance of the existing network infrastructure and therefore reduce the need for future capital outlays.
MTN Syria CTO Mr. Maher Maarouf said: "Optimi xParameters solution provides us with a unique way to automatically re-distribute traffic in our network, thereby reducing congestion and improving the utilization of our network resources. Such solution will have an impact on our CapEx investments in terms of number of TRXs needed. We have selected Optimi xParameters after a successful pilot project, in which we have challenged them to apply the solution in a highly congested area in Damascus (capital city) and they have succeeded to reduce congestion and blocking by more than 35% without expanding the network".
Optimi's MEA Sales Director, Faisal Ashour, commented: "We are proud to be selected by MTN Syria. By deploying xParameters, MTN will ensure increased network capacity and optimal utilization of their resources, while at the same time maintaining their current quality levels. We are confident that MTN will benefit from a substantial reduction in their CapEx needs".
According to figures from the Mobile World database, MTN Syria ended last year with just over 3.5 million customers, which represents a market share of 46%. The country has a population penetration level of around 38%.
