Nokia Siemens Completes 2nd Phase of China Mobile TD-SCDMA Rollout

Nokia Siemens Networks has announced that it is one of first vendors to complete phase two deployment of China Mobile's 3G network, based on TD-SCDMA technology. Nokia Siemens Networks has been working with China Mobile subsidiaries Fujian Mobile, Henan Mobile, Jiangxi Mobile and Hainan Mobile to deploy their respective 3G networks.
As an example of the deployments, Nokia Siemens Networks has supported Henan Mobile to install 1342 base stations in its capital city Zhengzhou in just two months, completing its TD-SCDMA network by the end of February and ensuring TD-SCDMA and GSM inter-working by March 10, 2009. With network optimization and service trials ongoing, Henan Mobile expects to launch mobile data based services in the near future.
Backed by over 1200 TD-SCDMA experts and engineers in China, Nokia Siemens Networks team successfully completed video calls in January 2009, delivered and completed the implementation, integration testing and network commissioning across the four provinces awarded to the company by mid March, ahead of schedule.
"The success of TD-SCDMA in China will not depend on whether vendors can ship their equipment, but rather on the quality of the service and how satisfied end-users are when 3G networks are optimized and launched," said Steven Shaw, Vice President at Nokia Siemens Networks Greater China region. "Providing quality voice and data services require proven competence and experience in building wireless networks, something we have gained over the years both globally and in China. Given our performance in phase two of the TD-SCDMA network rollouts, we are well positioned to add further value to our customers via the 200 city network expansions planned in China Mobile's next wave of bidding."
