Yahoo! Mobile Selects Navizon for Wi-Fi and Cellular Geolocation

Mexens Technology, maker of the Navizon positioning system says that it has been selected by Yahoo Mobile to be a provider of Wi-Fi and Cellular positioning technology.

"We are very excited by this development which demonstrates that our patented WiFi and Cellular positioning technology has become an essential part of the new generation of mobile and web-based applications," said Cyril Houri, founder and CEO of Mexens Technology. "Moving forward, Yahoo! Mobile users will be able to enjoy the same accurate and always up-to-date information than the one offered to our growing community of 800,000 Navizon users worldwide".

Yahoo! and Mexens Technology will provide a targeted experience to mobile users based on their geography. This deal will also further improve the accuracy and coverage of Mexens' database of Cellular towers and Wi-Fi access points by adding resources to the data collection mechanism provided by the global community of Navizon users.

Founded in January 2005, Mexens Technology is the maker of Navizon, which relies on a community of users worldwide to build a dynamic database of Wi-Fi access points and GSM, CDMA and 3G towers.
