Uruguay's Telecoms Market to Surpass US$1.3 Billion by 2013
Signals Telecom Consulting has issued a report on Uruguay's telecommunications market which indicates that as a result of market saturation and the international crisis, the mobile market will grow at a slower rate than in previous years.
"By 2013 we estimate that the market for mobile lines in Uruguay will have achieved real service penetration in the order of 97%," declared Carlos Blanco, Market Research Director for Signals Telecom Consulting and author of the report.
This market study also highlights the fact that fixed residential broadband access penetration stands at 22.39%, giving Uruguay one of the highest penetration rates in the region, behind only Chile and Argentina. "Despite the high competitiveness achieved in Uruguay, Antel's xDSL still appears very limited as regards access speeds and prices," concluded Blanco.
