Trinidad and Tobago telco, TSTT has updated its existing Redknee provided platform to add prepaid charging services for BlackBerry smartphones. Launched successfully in December 2008, it allows TSTT to extend the service and offer the same email, messaging and browsing experience on BlackBerry(R) smartphones for prepaid subscribers as it does for postpaid subscribers.
More than 90 percent of Trinidad and Tobago's mobile population use prepaid services, and the nation's three mobile operators are aggressively competing to increase their relative share of the prepaid subscriber base.
"With Redknee's Prepaid Smartphone Charging, TSTT has the ability to deliver a highly desired, premium service to our prepaid subscriber base. TSTT is the leading wireless operator in Trinidad/Tobago, and we pride ourselves in being able to offer our subscribers the services they want, with the flexible payment options they expect. Redknee provides a flexible, transparent solution that can rapidly adapt to market requirements and device evolution," states Jay Alvi, Executive Vice President, Enterprise Services at TSTT.
"Redknee delivered the solution for us in very short order, so we could launch in time for the Christmas selling season. That was very important to TSTT as the Christmas season is a big selling time for mobile. Redknee delivered their solution on time, which allowed us to hit a critical market window."
