Huawei Wins Service Delivery Contract from Telefonica
Huawei and Telefónica have signed a framework contract to deploy a new "Service Delivery Platform" (SDP) serving all countries in Telefónica's Latin American region. The SDP platform, to be commercially launched during the first half of 2009, unifies the delivery of value-added services and eases the process of implementing new services. The SDP opens the possibility of offering convergence services, for both fixed and mobile networks, as well as for residential and enterprise markets.
Under the agreement, Huawei will provide Telefónica with a service-oriented architecture (SOA) based centralised SDP solution to serve whole of Latin America, including 13 countries, integrating different network capabilities and business functionalities, providing a unified interface and service management.
"This platform allows us to integrate a seamless range of services for different networks and countries, so we can continue leading innovation for the mobile market throughout the Latin American region", explains Luis Miguel Gilpérez, Director, Mobile Business, at Telefónica Latin America.
"This project represents a new milestone in our long-term partnership with Telefónica", explains Tang Xiaoming, President of the Telefónica Global Account at Huawei Technologies. "The SDP platform provides a very innovative approach to the market and positions both companies as leaders in the delivery of innovative and profitable services that will benefit end users".
