DoCoMo 9-Month Profit Rises 16% to $4.8 Billion

Japan's DoCoMo has reported that its net profit for the April-December period grew 16 percent to reach YEN 437.7 billion (US$4.8 billion) compared to a year earlier. Operating income rose 19 percent to YEN 746.8 billion (US$8.3 billion), while revenue fell 4 percent to YEN 3.38 trillion (US$37.7 billion).

The company ended last year with 54.16 million subscribers, a rise of 220,000 from three months earlier.

Although the firm has faced increasing competition from KDDI and Softbank, the firm said that it reversed the trend though a "comprehensive review of all [its] operations from customers relations to handsets and network development in order to enhance customer satisfaction."

DoCoMo maintained its forecast for the full fiscal year which ends in March. It expects net income of 495 billion yen, operating profit of 830 billion yen and revenue of 4.6 trillion yen.
