Apple Finally Gets its New iPhone Boss
After settling a legal dispute, Apple has announced that former IBM vice-president, Mark Papermaster will finally be joining the Company as senior vice president of Devices Hardware Engineering. The job posting was originally announced last November, but has been mired in a legal dispute after IBM claimed that he was breaching a clause in his contract preventing him from leaving to work for a competitor.
In a short statement, Apple said that the litigation between IBM and Mark Papermaster has been resolved.
Papermaster will lead Apple's iPod and iPhone hardware engineering teams, reporting to Apple CEO Steve Jobs - who is himself currently on sick leave.
Papermaster has a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Texas, and Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Vermont in 1988. He is active with the University of Texas where he is a member of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Advisory Council.
