T-Mobile's Google Phone Coming to More European Countries

T-Mobile says that it plans to start selling its G1 smartphone - based on the Google backed Android operating system - in several European countries within the next few weeks. The HTC manufactured handset is expected to on sale in the Netherlands, Czech Republic and Austria by the end of this month.

Sales in Germany and Poland will follow in February. The phone is already being sold in the UK by T-Mobile's local network.

T-Mobile Chief Executive Hamid Akhavan told the Reuters news agency that sales of the smartphone in the USA have "exceeded expectations", but declined to offer any sales numbers.

It is anticipated that the smartphones will include a software upgrade which will offer an on-screen keyboard to compliment the existing physical keyboard. A software update will be offered to existing smartphone users.
