T-Mobile UK's Managing Director Resigns
T-Mobile UK's Managing Director, Jim Hyde has announced that he is to leave the firm at the end of March - for a job back in his native USA. A successor for T-Mobile UK will be announced in the near future.
Mr. Hyde is moving to take up the role of President and Chief Operating Officer at the US telecoms operator, NTELOS, replacing James S. Quarforth as Chief Executive Officer upon Mr. Quarforth's eventual retirement.
Mr. Quarforth commented, "This is an important part of our succession planning as we position the Company for continuing long-term success. With his experience at T-Mobile, he brings great operating as well as sales and marketing experience to the Company. Also, having Jim on board as President and COO will permit me to focus even more on the Company's strategic planning as the telecommunications industry continues to evolve."
Jim Hyde moved to T-Mobile UK in January 2006 from T-Mobile USA, where he held a number of leadership positions, including Vice President of Sales and Operations. He had joined VoiceStream Wireless in 1997 as a director of regional indirect sales and operations, and been with the firm thoughout its many changes leading eventually to its purchase by Germany's Deutsche Telekom.
Hamid Akhavan, CEO of T-Mobile International said, "We appreciate Jim's contribution during the many years he spent at T-Mobile and whilst we respect his decision, we are sorry to see him leave."
T-Mobile UK is also seeking a replacement Marketing Director, following the recent resignation of Phil Chapman.
NTELOS provides products and services to customers in Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, Maryland and North Carolina, including wireless phone service, local and long distance telephone services, IPTV-based video services, and data services for internet access and wide area networking.
