StarHub Starts Upgrade to Support 21Mbps Mobile Download Speeds
Singapore mobile operator, StarHub has announced that it has commenced the upgrade of its mobile broadband network to HSPA Plus (HSPA+), following a successful live demonstration of its capability to deliver 21Mbps on the downlink.
The upgrade is being provided by Huawei.
This development is in addition to StarHub's increased uplink network capacity to 5.76Mbps nationwide. By 2Q-2009, StarHub's mobile broadband network will be HSPA+ ready for commercial rollout nationwide.
Currently, StarHub says that it has the highest mobile broadband network capacity in Singapore, at 14.4Mbps (downlink) and 5.76Mbps (uplink).
Figures from the Mobile World analysts shows that the operator ended last September with some 1.74 million customers, representing a marker share of 24%.
