Finnish Authority Advices Children to Limit Mobile Phone Usage

Finland's Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (STUK) has issued a declaration that parents should restrict children's mobile phone use. The authority said that while no evidence exists that mobile phones are dangerous, children shouldn't use phones as all the effects are still not known.

"Although studies carried out thus far have not shown mobile phone radiation to have had any adverse impact on health, prudence is advised when it comes to children as not all the effects are known," the watchdog added.

The STUK said parents should tell children to send SMSs rather than making voice calls - and to instruct them on the use of hands-free devices. Parents should also limit the number of phone calls that children can make each day.
