Alvarion Wins Taiwanese WiMAX Contract

Alvarion has signed a contract with Taiwan's VMAX Telecom to deploy Mobile WiMAX, beginning in the Taoyuan and Hsinchu counties, in Northern Taiwan. Under the terms of the agreement, Alvarion will provide VMAX Telecom with its WiMAX Forum Certified BreezeMAX 2500 base station, as part of the company's 4Motion solution.

Teddy Huang, CEO of VMAX Telecom. "We are looking forward to being the first operator to commercially deploy Mobile WiMAX in Northern Taiwan. Subscriber growth is expected to reach 500,000 in 5 years,"

VMAX Telecom was awarded a WiMAX license by the National Communications Commission of Taiwan in July 2007.

"We look forward to implementing our successful project plan and enabling VMAX Telecom's customers to tap into the exciting world of mobile Internet. This milestone reaffirms Alvarion's position at the forefront of Mobile WiMAX adoption."
