Azercell Commissions 1,500th Base Station
Azerbaijani mobile operator, Azercell has commissioned its 1,500th base station at 1,500 meters above sea level - in the mountainous region of Gusar, northern region of Azerbaijan. According to figures from the Mobile World subscriber tracker, Azercell is the largest mobile subscriber in the country and ended September with just under 3.4 million customers. This represents a market share of around 67% in a country with a population penetration level of 62%
Mr.Halim Ates, CEO of the Azercell Telecom has emphasized that this new station is very important to extend Azercell's coverage area and render support to the regional development program implemented by national authorities.
Mr.Elman Mustafayev, deputy head of Gusar Executive Power Office assessed the commissioning of a new station in Enigh village as an important step to ensure high quality mobile communication. He said: "This radio-base station located at 1500 meters high above sea level will serve 6 villages of our region. It will cover 8 thousand local residents and provide more stable communication. At the same, it is also important to ensure comfortable communications for tourists coming here in summer season."
