Motorola Announces More Job Cuts

Motorola has announced that it is to cut 600 jobs in Mexico. The job cuts will be confined to the Motorola factory in the northern state of Chihuahua. The company's other factory at Nogales is not affected as it does not manufacture cell phones. The Chihuahua plant only opened five years ago, and recently switched to manufacturing cell phones in 1999. The plant will retain 1,900 staff after the cuts."
