Huawei Demos HSPA+ in Hong Kong

Huawei has announced the successful completion of its first live demonstration of a commercially ready HSPA+ (also known as HSPA Evolution) network and device. The trial was conducted in Hong Kong with telecoms operator PCCW. HuaweiÃ's E182E HSPA+ mobile broadband solution will be ready for full commercial use in the early part of 2009.

"It is clear from todayÃ's live demonstration that HuaweiÃ's E182E HSPA+ solution, coupled with PCCWÃ's sophisticated digital network, will enable PCCW to deliver a world-class mobile broadband experience to our customers through increased network capacity and the highest data speeds," said Richard Midgett, PCCW Wireless Business Managing Director.

Today is the first time HSPA+ has been tested with HuaweiÃ's own HSPA+ mobile broadband terminal.

Australia's Telstra is currently deploying a HSPA+ network upgrade - with kit supplied by Ericsson.
