Ugandan Minister Describes 20% Mobile Connectivity in Country As Good
APA-Kampala(Uganda) Twenty out of every 100 Ugandans are connected to mobile phones which is a good development the minister for Information Communication Technology (ICT) Mr. Ham Mulira said here on Tuesday.
In an interview with the press, Mulira however regretted the high cost of calling on phones in Uganda which he attributed to lack of optic fiber connections in most of Africa.
He said that mobile phone service providers are connected to satellites which are costly and prayed that optic fibre connnections are soon made.
He said that in US they pay only 20 us dollars for 500 megabytes connection per hour yet in Uganda it is paid at 5000 US dollars.
