Mobinil Reports Subscriber Base Up by 1.4 Million
The Egyptian Company for Mobile Services (Mobinil) has reported that it increased its subscriber base in the 3rd quarter by 1.392 million, a 38% increase over the previous year - to reach 18.911 million.
Net revenues for the third quarter reached EGP 2,664 million (US$487.7 million) representing an increase of 19% over the same period last year. Net income for the third quarter reached EGP 541 million (US$99 million) representing an increase of 15% over the same period last year.
Third quarter postpaid ARPU stabilized at EGP 265 (US$48.5) representing a decrease of 12% over the same period last year. Third quarter prepaid ARPU increased to EGP 37 (US$6.77), representing an increase of 4% QoQ and a decrease of 5% over the same period last year.
Mobinil is listed on the Cairo stock exchange (29%) - and has two main shareholders, Orascom Telecom (33.1%) and France Telecom (36.3%). The company is the largest operator in the market, and according to figures from the Mobile World database, has a market share of around 48%.
