Rogers CEO Stands Down Due to Heart Problems
Canada's Rogers Communications has confirmed media reports that Ted Rogers, the Company's Chief Executive Officer, has been admitted to hospital for treatment for an existing cardiac condition. Mr. Rogers will temporarily relinquish his responsibilities as the Company's Chief Executive Officer.
The length of Mr. Rogers' leave will be determined by his overall health and medical progress. He turned 75 earlier this year, which sparked speculation about the succession at the company. His father Edward S. Rogers, Sr. is regarded as the founder of the company, although the radio station that he founded is now owned by another Canadian company competitor Astral Media.
During this period, Alan D. Horn, Chairman of the Board of Rogers Communications., will serve as acting Chief Executive Officer and lead the company's Office of the President.
