TeliaSonera's Unit Yoigo to Launch EUR0.08/Min Call Plan

MADRID -(Dow Jones)- Yoigo, the Spanish mobile phone unit of Sweden's TeliaSonera, said Monday the company will launch a EUR0.08 a minute price plan for calls in Spain, in a move to grab market share from rivals.

In a meeting with journalists, Yoigo's Chief Executive Johan Andsjo said that under the new price plan, each call will have a connection charge of EUR0.15, and text messages will cost EUR0.08.

The new plan will be available Tuesday, Andsjo added.

Yoigo, Spain's biggest low-cost cellular operator, competes directly with heavyweights Telefonica, Vodafone Group and France Telecom's, Orange.

Spain's other main operators charge between EUR0.12 and EUR0.19 a minute depending on the call plan for cellular calls in Spain.

Andsjo said Yoigo had more than 600,000 customers at the end of June, and has targeted roughly one million customers for the end of the year.

Besides mobile telephony, Yoigo also offers third-generation high speed Internet service for laptop computers and mobile devices.
