The Saudi newspaper, al-Iqtisadiyah al-Saudia has reported that a Saudi man has been sentenced to 70 lashes for using his cell phone while on an internal flight from Tabouk in northern Saudi Arabia to Abha in the south. The man, an army officer, had reportedly ignored repeated requests from the flight crew on a Saudi Airlines flight to stop using his phone. Saudi Airlines says that it has isolated at least seven incidents where the use of a cell phone during landing and take-off had interfered with their planes electronics."
