Verizon Backs Down over Tariff Changes
America's Verizon Wireless has backed down from a plan to extend the peak calling hours for its subscribers in the New England area, following complaints to the Office of Consumer Affairs. The company has agreed to "grandfather" its existing customers, that is, to maintain their existing tariff conditions. The peak hours were to be extended from 8pm to 9pm in the evening, and customers who wished to cancel their contract would have been subject to a US$175 cancellation fee."
