Alcatel-Lucent: Management Committee's Cindy Christy to Leave Firm
Published on: 8th September 2008
PARIS -(Dow Jones)- Franco-American telecommunications equipment maker Alcatel-Lucent Sunday said Cindy Christy, the head of its Americas region and a member of its management committee, will leave the company.
Christy is the first senior executive to leave the company since the arrival of the new chief executive, Ben Verwaayen, who replaced Patricia Russo.
Alcatel-Lucent announced Verwaayen's appointment Tuesday, while Christy told her staff of her departure Friday, an Alcatel-Lucent spokeswoman said by email. Christy's exit was first reported Friday by the Web site Telephony Online.
"She chose to leave for very personal reasons which have nothing to do with the departure" of Russo, the spokeswoman said.
Prior to heading the Americas region, Christy was in charge of the North America region for Alcatel-Lucent. Before the 2006 merger of Alcatel SA of France and Lucent Technologies of Murray Hill, New Jersey, Christy was president of Lucent's Network Solutions group. She began her career in 1988 at AT&T Network Systems.
Christy will remain with the company for several weeks, during which she will hand over responsibilities to Jim Coccito, the number two executive for the Americas region, the spokeswoman said.
Coccito will head the region until a replacement is appointed, the spokeswoman said.
