Comium Picks Up WiMAX Licenses in Seven Countries

Lebanon based Comium Group says that it has secured nine licenses to provide WiMAX services across several markets in East and West Africa including Cote d'Ivory, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia and Burundi. This expansion also brought the appointment of Comium Data's new management team to drive the company's growth.

With its wide coverage footprint and flexible licenses, this company has proven its ability to fulfill our vision in bringing new ways of communication to serve the countries it operates in," said Dr. Nizar Dalloul, Comium Group Chairman.

Commenting on the company's growth, the newly appointed COO Mr. Tony Ghattas said: "Comium Data is a company that has the determination, dynamics, and the financial capabilities to drive a strong and value-driven business in the emerging markets. Through its innovative solutions such as WiMAX and IP, Comium Data will continue to deliver quality and cost effective Wireless Internet services to its customers."

The company has already deployed a WiMAX network in Lebanon, and operates GSM networks in The Gambia, Liberia, Cote d'Ivory and Sierra Leone.
