Huawei Dploys Largest HLR in Pakistan
Huawei says that it has deployed the world' s largest next generation Home Location Register (HLR) solution for Telenor Pakistan. Huawei' s HLR solution is fully-distributed and has been deployed in the country' s three major cities of Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore, and will serve 40 million subscribers.
Telenor Pakistan ended the first half of this year with some 18.13 million customers, according to figures from the Mobile World subscriber tracker - representing a market share of 20.6%.

This, together with constant R&D support and involvement, enabled us to achieve timely and smooth deployment of the next generation HLR in our network." Huawei next generation HLR adopts Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture (ATCA) platform and a distributed architecture design, which can provide large-capacity processing capability and expand smoothly and unlimitedly.
The solution also offers data-sharing and inter-working platforms for service convergence, which helps Telenor Pakistan better understand its customers and allows the operator to quickly provide new services to its customers in the most appropriate manner. Huawei' s next generation HLR also allows the evolution to Home Subscriber Server (HSS) and Authorization, Authentication and Accounting (AAA) capabilities, thus securing Telenor Pakistan' s current investment.
