ROK Launches 3G Based Mobile TV Service in Mexico

ROK Entertainment Group and Mexico's Telcel have jointly announced the launch of Ideas TV, a streamed, live and on-demand mobile TV subscription service in Mexico. Powered by ROK technologies, Ideas TV will offer 10 channels, to include 3 live channels and 7 pre-recorded looped channels, and will be available to TelcelÃ's 3G customers.

The service will be available to prepaid and postpaid customers at different pricing that will range from daily rates to monthly subscriptions. TelcelÃ's Ideas TV offers subscribers such channels as MTV, Nickelodeon, TV Azteca, History Channel, A&E and the Discovery Channel.

ROKÃ's patent-pending mobile TV technology enables the streaming of video at up to 24 frames per second over 3G technology..

Commenting on the initiative, Laurence Alexander, Group CEO of ROK said "Working with Telcel to prepare Ideas TV for launch has been a great experience and this deployment of mobile TV is a major milestone in our global roll-out of our revenue-generating mobile entertainment services".

Telcel is the country's dominant operator, and according to figures from the Mobile World subscriber tracking service, ended the first half of this year with a shade under 53 million subscribers, representing a market share of nearly 72%.
