3 UK Aims to Double Subscriber Base by 2012
Hutchison 3G UK is aiming to double its subscriber base to nearly seven million by 2012 the company CEO, Kevin Russell has said. In an interview with the Financial Times, Russell said that his target is to double the size of the business over the next three to four years.
The business generated £1.6 billion of revenue in 2007, up 5 percent on 2006.
Mr Russell said: "Over the next three to four years I would like to more than double the net revenue in the business, and double the customer base."
The company is planning to appeal a ruling from the regulator which has reduced its termination rates from other mobile operators to match the market average. Mr Russell will give evidence on Friday to the Competition Commission, which is holding an inquiry into termination rates.
According to figures from the Mobile World analysts, the operator ended last year with some 3.1 million subscribers and a market share of 4.4%.
