SR Telecom Launches WiMAX at 10.5 GHz
SR Telecom has introduced an industry first 10.5 GHz radio unit for WiMAX-based applications. The announcement provides operators a new and cost-effective business model to rapidly build out their enterprise networks using WiMAX-based technology in the widely-available 10.5 GHz frequency band.
"SR Telecom & Co. developed this product based on extensive market consultations and have thus far received extremely encouraging feedback with respect to the need for a WiMAX-based solution in the 10.5 GHz band," said Serge Fortin, President and Chief Executive Officer of SR Telecom & Co. "Because of the large bandwidth available, the 10.5 GHz band has always been of interest to operators wanting to reach enterprise customers. Historically, the problem has been the cost of the network equipment to make that happen. We are very pleased today to introduce a product that not only satisfies all technical requirements for larger-scale enterprise networks, but provides operators a profitable business case to reach these customers."
The company's symmetryMX 10.5 GHz WiMAX-based solution enables wireless network operators to offer enterprise services at new price points that will radically change their business cases and target markets. symmetryMX leverages cost-effective and sophisticated WiMAX technology in the widely-available 10.5 GHz band, where there is sufficient spectrum to build large-scale networks that deliver enterprise-class multi-megabit services.
