Despite Security Concerns, Enterprises Continue to Deploy Mobile Applications

According to a survey conducted by Vettro, companies are continuing to utilize mobile devices for more than just email. The survey also found that concern over data security is the number one hindrance to adoption of mobile applications across an enterprise. The survey, which was conducted at the recent Wireless Enterprise Symposium in Orlando, FL, noted that IT service management (ITSM) was the leading mobile application that companies are considering deploying beyond email.

Vettro also identified other key enterprise wireless trends and data through the survey:

  • Almost 50% of enterprises have deployed, or are considering deploying, IT service management applications
  • Sales force automation is one of the top three mobile applications companies are considering for deployment
  • After email, mobile field service is the leading mobile applications deployed by enterprises

“Enterprises are beginning to realize that using mobile computing just for email is actually a disadvantage,” said Matt Finkelstein, VP of product management. “Having that narrow view of mobility prevents it from being successful. As we’ve seen at Vettro, enterprises are continuing to expand their mobile infrastructures beyond email to great benefit.”

Vettro surveyed 50 key mobile enterprise users to find out how companies are currently using mobile applications, and what their future plans are.

Vettro offers a suite of mobile applications for field service, IT service management, pickup and delivery, and CRM.
