Prototype T-Mobile Handset Sold on EBay

Police in Seattle, USA have been called in by T-Mobile to investigate a possible theft of a prototype handset after it was found being offered for sale on the auction website, eBay. The phone, codenamed, Shadow II and manufactured by HTC was sold on eBay for US$499 last week.

According to a police report seen by the local King5 website, T-Mobile was able to trace the seller to an address in Seattle and called in the police to recover the handset before it was handed over to the lucky buyer.

The seller reportedly claimed to be a reseller of second hand phones and could not identify where he got the phone from. T-Mobile investigators told police they weren't interested in criminal prosecution. The buyer seemed to be another second-hand phone reseller.

T-Mobile's corporate HQ is in Belleview, which is just outside Seattle.
