Tellabs Sues Fujitsu Over Patent Infringement
Tellabs has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Fujitsu in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and says that it is seeking both monetary damages as well as an injunction against Fujitsu to prevent Fujitsu's alleged infringement of Tellabs' intellectual property.
In its complaint, filed on June 11, 2008, Tellabs asserts that Fujitsu infringes Tellabs' U.S. Patent No. 7,369,772. The United States Patent Office recently granted the patent to Tellabs. Various Fujitsu products are subject to the lawsuit, including reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexing (ROADM) systems and components that Fujitsu markets within its FLASHWAVE product line.
"Tellabs invests hundreds of millions of dollars in research and development each year, in order to create innovative products and services that help our customers succeed," said Dan Kelly, executive vice president, global products. "Tellabs inventors have earned hundreds of valuable patents, and we must protect our intellectual property from poaching."
