Azingo Demonstrates Mobile Linux Solution on TI's OMAP Platform

Mobile Linux developer, Azingo is demonstrating its Azingo Mobile Linux platform on the Texas Instruments OMAP platform at Computex in Taiwan. The two companies are collaborating to provide mobile phone and internet device manufacturers with a cost-effective Linux platform based on LiMo Foundation software. That platform - featuring touch screen Internet browsing, web widget applications, audio, video and personalized user applications - will be demonstrated on a device featuring a TI OMAP3430 application processor.

TI’s OMAP platform provides a unique multi-engine architecture ensuring high performance, non-interrupted delivery of industry-leading voice, data and audio, multimedia applications with very low power consumption. Azingo adds a complete mobile Linux platform that includes a highly configurable user interface and web 2.0-enabled mobile applications suite, an SDK for applications developers, and mobile Linux engineering services for high-speed porting and customization capability.

“We’re very pleased to deliver a LiMo-based mobile Linux solution for OMAP technology customers following so quickly on the heels of TI’s membership in the LiMo Foundation,” said Mahesh Veerina, Azingo CEO. “Through this collaboration, the cost advantages and faster time-to-market opportunities of Azingo Mobile are now available for one of the highest volume, most widely used processors in the market.”

“Azingo Mobile shares TI’s commitment to high quality user experiences from both an application and performance perspective,” said Markus Tremmel, TI’s worldwide wireless ecosystem manager. “Because Azingo Mobile is specifically optimized for the OMAP platform, manufacturers can immediately enjoy the benefit of easy integration of the latest applications, while customers enjoy exceptional multimedia performance."
