Wireless Industry Shipped Over One Million BTS Units in 2007

Published on: 30th May 2008

The global base station market grew by 58.5% in units in 2007, according to the latest report from EJL Wireless Research. "The GSM/EDGE base station market again outpaced our projections from a year ago while WCDMA shipments finally hit mainstream with 114.4% growth," says founder and President, Earl Lum.

"Nokia Siemens Networks was the number one ranked OEM globally and for WCDMA while Ericsson was the largest GSM supplier. ZTE and Alcatel-Lucent were co-leaders for the CDMA market," says Lum.

"We expect LTE BTS shipments to begin in 2010 with simultaneous launches in the US, Japan and Western Europe regions. Asia Pacific remains the driving force for global shipments as China, India, Pakistan and other countries continue to aggressively deploy networks," says Lum.
