NEW DELHI -(Dow Jones)- The Indian government expects a rollout of third-generation, or 3G, telecommunication services by January 2009, the country's minister of communications said Friday.
The government expects to release guidelines of its planned auction of 3G spectrum to telecommunications services providers, and that for the WiMAX services, by the end of June, A. Raja, who is also India's minister for information technology, said on the sidelines of an industry summit.
He added that the government is still undecided on whether new players should be allowed to participate in the 3G auction.
