Malaysia's telecoms operators have dismissed as a hoax an SMS which was being shared around the country over the weekend telling users to switch off their phone before 11pm on Saturday. The messages warned that a "radiation wave" was to be emitted from the mobile phone towers and that it could be harmful to people if their phone was still switched on.
Naturally, the message was a hoax.
A spokesman for Maxis advised the public to ignore the SMS. “There is no 'big radiation wave' between telecommunication towers that will be dangerous to humans.”
