O2 Hints at 3G iPhone Launch Date
The 3G version of Apple's iPhone could be launched within "the coming weeks" - according to the CEO of Telefonica Europe, Matthew Key. The comment is not unexpected as most commentators expect the phone to be launched at Apple's Worldwide Developers' Conference in San Francisco on 9th June.
Speaking at O2's first-quarter results, the chairman and chief executive of Telefónica Europe Matthew Key said that O2 would make an announcement within the comming weeks regarding the launch of a 3G version of the iPhone.
When asked when the 3G phone will be available, he told the Guardian newspaper "That's more of a question for Apple ... but over the coming weeks we will do a joint announcement with Apple as Telefónica Group".
O2 has the exclusive rights to the iPhone handsets in the UK and Ireland.
