Philippines Sets Up SMS Complaints Bureau

Published on:

The Philippines National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has set up a complaints office to deal with harassment by SMS. Receivers of malicious text messages can now report the sender to the NTC, which will require the cellular network to block the phone if the sender has not reported to the NTC to explain his/her actions within ten days. The Philippines is one of the busiest countries in the world for sending text messages, and the recent political turmoil in the country has resulted in a surge of malicious SMS's being sent."
