Nokia Siemens Wins Indonesian SoftSwitch Contract

Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) has announced a contract to modernize Telkomsel Indonesia's network to Release 4 architecture with its MSC Server System mobile softswitch solution, which it says will helps the Indonesian operator reduce operating expenses while expanding communications services.

Under the three-year frame work agreement, Nokia Siemens Networks will deploy the latest generation softswitch in across Indonesia. This is one of the biggest softswitch network modernizations in Asia Pacific, and includes network planning, implementation as well as consulting and system Integration scope of works.

Additionally, the new solution lets Telkomsel simplify its network architecture, thus lowering operating costs while increasing the efficacy of providing voice and data applications.

"Telkomsel will always put the best quality as the first priority in providing the communications services for our subscribers. We believe this agreement will support Telkomsel in providing the best communications services and allow us to operate efficiently and ensure the stability and reliability to maintain the optimum networks performance,'' said Telkomsel VP Procurement & Logistics M. Iswan

NSN will start to deliver its solutions and services in May 2008

The company says that it has 190 customers using mobile softswitching in over 110 live networks.
