Orange Wins Tender for New Mobile Frequency in Slovakia
BRATISLAVA, Slovakia (AFP)--Orange, the leading Slovak mobile phone operator, has won a tender for a new mobile frequency in Slovakia, Slovak telecommunications office spokesman Roman Vavro told AFP Tuesday.
"The tender winner is Orange with an offer of 40 million koruna (EUR1.3 million)," Vavro said. "This means broadening of broadband internet services' penetration."
The office picked Orange, a unit of France Telecom, from three bids that were posted by Tuesday.
The bidders were the Irish Web development company Irish Logic System, Orange and the newest player on the Slovak telecommunications market, Spanish group Telefonica.
Price was the only criterion in the tender, which came with a SKK30 million minimum.
