Nokia to Oust Motorola As Top Aac Customer

AAC Acoustic Technologies, a China based company which manufactures the miniature acoustic components used in mobile phones says that it expects Nokia to replace Motorola as its largest customer this year. The switch is driven primarily by the decline in orders from Motorola.

"We will benefit from the growth in Nokia's handset output, which will be about 500 million units globally this year, compared with 460 million units last year," AAC chief operating officer Du Kuang-yang told the South China Morning Post.

Revenue from Nokia would account for over 25 percent of AAC's total sales this year, Mr Du said, compared with 10 percent last year, while revenue earned from sales to Motorola is set to decrease to about 25 percent of total sales this year from 37 percent last year.

Mr Du also noted that increased sales to Apple and Research In Motion should help fill the shortfall caused by the declining orders from Motorola.

The company was founded in 1996, and Motorola was one of its first major customers. The company was listed on the hong Kong stock exchange in 2005 - when it also won orders from Sony Ericsson.
