Qualcomm's European subsidiary has acquired substantially all the assets of Madrid-based Ronda Grupo Consultor, a provider in the development, establishment and operation of fleet management systems (FMS) for the transportation and logistics industry in Spain and Portugal. The acquisition allows for the combination of Ronda's local market knowledge and presence to enhance Qualcomm's European fleet management operations.
“Spain and Portugal are significant markets - the number of heavy and medium commercial vehicles is approaching 600,000 and with a very low penetration rate of FMS, this region represents one of the opportunistic markets in Europe,” says Sjef van Gool, managing director of Qualcomm Enterprise Services Europe. “Acquiring substantially all the assets of Ronda provides Qualcomm with an increased presence in Spain and Portugal and reaffirms Qualcomm's commitment to the European market.”
Ronda has been a distributor of the EutelTRACS products and services since 1994. As a result of the acquisition, Ronda's personnel and proprietary software will be integrated into Qualcomm Enterprise Services Europe, and it will continue to operate as a branch office in Madrid to support and service existing local customers.
