Kyocera: To Exchange Batteries Used in KDDI Mobile Phones

TOKYO -(Dow Jones)- Kyocera Corp. Monday reiterated that it is recalling for exchange some batteries used in KDDI and Okinawa Cellular Telephone mobile phone handsets.

Last month, KDDI said it would implement an exchange program for batteries for Kyocera's W42K phone, of which 214,349 are currently in use.

The reason for the exchange is that the batteries could short if damaged, leading to possible overheating, smoking or other damage.
