Research In Motion 4Q Net Up On Higher Revenue, More Subscribers
Research In Motion's revenue more than
doubled in the fiscal fourth quarter ended March 1, a period in which
the Waterloo, Ont. company added about 2.18 million net new BlackBerry
subscriber accounts.
The company reported net income of $412.5 million or 72 cents a share, up from $187.4 million or 33 cents a year earlier.
The Thomson First Call mean earnings estimate for the latest period was 70 cents a share.
Revenue rose to $1.88 billion from $930.4 million.
At the end of the quarter, the total BlackBerry subscriber account base exceeded 14 million.
The company said it expects revenue for the first quarter to
be about $2.23 billion to $2.30 billion. Net subscriber account
additions are expected to be about 2.2 million, and the company
projects earnings of 82-86 cents a share for the first quarter.
