Slovakia Ministry Launches Tender for 4th Mobile Operator
PRAGUE -(Dow Jones)- Slovakia's telecommunication ministry Monday launched a tender for the country's fourth wireless telecommunications network, the ministry said in a statement.
The ministry is offering the frequency of 870 MHz, suitable for data rather than voice transmission. The tender seeks an operator that will use the frequency predominantly for broadband wireless data transmission across the entire country.
Bids must be submitted by April 29.
Already active in Slovakia are local mobile operator units of Deutsche Telekom, France Telecom, and Spain's Telefonica, all of which offer both mobile voice and data services.
