Vodafone Cuts Hq Jobs - Recruits More Retail Staff
Vodafone UK has announced a shake up of its personnel - in a move the company says is designed to invest in data sales and customer care. The company says that it is planning to recruit a further 330 retail advisors into its stores and a further 130 sales staff in its enterprise business.
The company currently has nearly 350 stores - so this represents an average of one new person per outlet.
The company is also building a new 850 seat call centre in Stoke-on-Trent, and will recruit 30 staff to boost its on-line sales and customer service activity, including enhanced e-billing capability.
However, it is not all good news for the jobs - as a total of 450 jobs will be cut, mostly at the Newbury HQ. Senior management levels will be reduced by 20% due to the cuts which the company said was aimed at simplifying its operating model.
Nick Read, Chief Executive of Vodafone UK commented: "Vodafone UK is clearly focused on building on its market leading position in data products and services. Today we are announcing a series of targeted investments to meet growing demand in this area, whilst simplifying the way we work, putting the customer at the heart of everything we do."
